All About Kerala - A Collage

Welcome to Kerala. God's Own Country.

My collage captures

Lord Vamana blessing and pushing King Bali to rule the Patala loka. King Mahabali is Kerala's favorite King for all people of Kerala regardless of their religion. People from all religion in Kerala celebrate Onam, the home coming of their beloved King, none other than grand son of our greatest Hari Bhakta Prahlad Maharaj.

Kata Kali, a dance art form.

Lord Sri Padmanabha of Tiruvananda Puram.

The traditional lamp of Kerala that is lit in each home's living room every evening. This lamp is lit by all people of Kerala regardless of any religion/caste they belong.

The story of Parashurama instructing Varuna to bring up the land of Kerala.

Sadya, a leaf full of YUM food served in a banana leaf.

A typical Kerala temple decorated all around with oil lamps.

Lord Guruvayuappan, darling Krishna of Kerala.

Ayurvedic vessel also used for decorating flowers in water.

Malayalam script, the native language. Do you know, Kerala's literacy rate is very high in India since several years.

The star symbol, Ohm/786 and the cross symbol represents the unity among-st all religions in Kerala.

Kerala Map, a small piece of GREEN land.

Mamooty, the actor who is proud of his mustache, most Keralite are from the Warrior class and they are proud, bold and strong men and women.

Lord Parashurama is a must mention in Kerala History. Many stories and legends.

King Bala Rama Varma.

The Great Velu Thampi, Indian Government had even come up with a stamp for the brave warrior who confronted the Britishers in a bold manner.

Mohiniattam, a dance art form.

The boat race.

The back waters and ton number of coconut trees. Coconut is used a lot in Kerala cuisine and one can always see Kerala people applying a lot of coconut oil on their hair and body. Coconut is very healthy.

The royal strong Kerala woman in a typical half white (ivory) color saree. Mundu is a half white colored piece of cloth that men and women wear in Kerala. I love to wear Mundu, so light, so comfortable.

Actor Mohan Lal in a typical South Indian style, lifting and holding his mundu.

Who can't appreciate what Ayurveda has given to the world, the medicines and treatment of Ayurveda is very ancient and practiced very much by people all over the world even now. It is known that in ancient times, all over the world, people used Ayurveda alone. I feel lucky that we still have a lot of Ayurvedic medical practitioners around and I am proud to use Ayurveda as the key guidance for my healthy life. I wish Ayurveda spreads even more to all parts of the world.

The elephants that are decorated in grand gold and the temple festivals.

Kalaripayatu, a martial art that is practiced widely in Kerala. Kerala is known for its very ancient martial art forms. Varma kalai is another art form of fighting and dealing with opponents in war. I always wonder that the Britishers would have been very alert about the Kerala Martial art warriors.  I am so fond of learning Kalari payatu. I didn't find a master as yet.

The banana trees, Kerala's cuisine includes a lot of Banana items. Banana flower, ripe banana, raw banana, banana stem.

A typical temple with Dwaja Stamba.

Saint Thomas and his conversion of Brahmins and the Christian churches that he established. Many people from Kerala has converted into Christians during when Saint Thomas came to India.

AND LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST, YUMMY
Puttu, ela adai, nendram pazham chips, jackfruit and the sweets that we make using jackfruit and the pressure cooked nendram pazham. Mouth watering snacks are treasures that Kerala has given to the world and for our hungry tummy.

Who can not appreciate what Kerala has offered to many of us?
