If My Dad Were Free

I wish my dad
would quit working
for a while,

And stop worrying
about office files.
He should take a day off
for fun and adventure,
for me, his dear child.

We would go to the beach to make sandcastles,
And see the water dazzle.

We would listen to the waves scream,
tired and hungry, we would take a nibble of ice-cream.

We would go to the library to take a look,
at what we can read from the book.

We would march back home.
For Mom would wait
To hear all about
The fun we'd had.

How I wish my dad should take a day off
for fun and adventure,
FOR ME, HIS DEAR CHILD.

This poem I wrote is inspired by the poem 'If my dad were free' authored by C. Radhika that I read in Cambridge Express English Literature Reader. It is similar but not same.
